There Are 5 Steps To Synchronize
Data for A Trade Item

Steps 1 and 2 can occur either before or after Step 3,
but all three have to happen prior to Steps 4 and 5

Step 1
Data Source (Manufacturer, Wholesaler, Distributor, Grower, etc.) registers their product information to a GDSN Certified Data Pool

Step 2
Data Source’s GDSN Certified Data Pool registers the trade item in the GS1 Global Registry

Step 3
Data Recipient (GPO, Provider, Distributor, etc.) subscribes to GDSN data

  • GPC, Information Provider, Target Market, GTIN or any combination

Step 4
Pub-Sub match at the Registry

  • Results communicated to the Data Source’s GDSN Certified Data Pool
  • Data Source’s GDSN Certified Data Pool forwards to the Data Recipient’s GDSN Certified Data Pool
  • Data Recipient’s GDSN Certified Data Pool forwards the data to the Recipient

Step 5
Recipient receives data and returns a confirmation message saying disposition

  • Accept- Data has been received but no determination has been made
  • Reject- Data has received but is not needed or accepted and no further messages on this GTIN will be accepted.
  • Review- Data has been received, but there are questions (questions noted in the confirmation message)
  • Synchronized- Data has been received and is synchronized for use. Any changes will be published and synchronized
